Previous The bridge, dry-fitted together in my shop. Joinery is pegged mortise-and-tenon, shown here early on, without the pegs. All carving and joinery was done with hand tools, the Good Old Way; surfaces are hand-planed for an added shimmery quality. For easy transport, I pre-assembled the uprights, dragons, and x-bracing, everything else was assembled on-site. That was half the fun of this piece — I didn’t really see the complete sculpture until it was finally installed. Gratifying, after holding it in my head for two years. Next
